Save Money Quickly By Using the Internet - It’s Just So Easy

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Anthony Dean The internet has many applications but saving money on every day services and purchases is one we can all use to our advantage. We have product information at our fingertips and we can compare prices from different suppliers in just a few minutes. This means the market for many things from electrical appliances to holidays is increasingly competitive. Delivery costs are usually reasonable and you avoid hours spent on the phone or in shopping centres. For occasions like Christmas or birthdays we are all likely to be out shopping for presents. Both large and small purchases can be cheaper if ordered online. Electrical appliances are one obvious example. Of course you may wish to browse in a show room for ideas but retailers often have further models and information on their websites. If you know what you want then use the internet to find a supplier. However, remember the cheapest offer may not necessarily be the most reliable service so make sure you get the balance right. You could also look for bargains on ebay and even sell items of your own. Renewing your car or household insurance is essential and it is tempting just to continue with the same company. However you could well save money by shopping around. With the help of dedicated websites this does not need to be a time consuming process. Simply enter your details online to receive quotes from different sources. Finding a personal loan or mortgage is a similar procedure. You can use loan calculators, a comparison service or a broker online to help you work out the best value deal for your particular situation. Rather than going into your bank and letting them sell to you, you are more likely to find cheaper loans by doing some research on the internet. Rising energy prices have caused a significant increase in fuel bills recently. However, many people could be paying more than necessary for their gas and electricity. You can use the internet to compare prices and switch supplier. prices are changing all the time, so mark your diary and review your situation every few months. Broadband users can route telephone calls through the internet using a voice over internet protocol. Skype is one of the most popular systems for this purpose and although many telephone providers are offering voip services, they are already available for free so there’s no need to pay any extra. If you are planning a holiday then why not book your accommodation direct with the owner through their website? This will be considerably cheaper than using an agent. You can also find the best value flights, travel insurance and last minute deals on the internet. Anthony Dean provides hints, tips and advice on a wide range of money-saving subjects. Reading Your Partners Mind

Friday, February 29th, 2008

By Dr. Linda Miles When Ann came to see me, she was in the process of counting how many times in the past year her husband had turned on the television when she wanted to talk to himnot that she had ever told him she wanted to talk. She left him oblivious to her upset, while her resentment built at his failure to magically know what was on her mind. When we are young it seems as if our caretakers magically know when we need to eat and what they must do to take care of us. Children have a family romance in which their parents are always wise and good. This is extended to the whole world via the culture of childrens stories, in which wonderful things happen to the good guys and the bad guys get their due. The Prince comes. The slipper fits. They live happily ever after. In adulthood this can become the expectation: that our partners should always know what we need without our having to tell them. When our partner fails to read our minds and to magically know our needs, resentment builds. We can take our partners blindness as a criticism of what we want or as a failure to do their part in the relationship. I have seen many couples who both believe that the other one knows, just knows, what it is they need and is withholding it for reasons of perversity or vindictiveness. This leads to a kind of passivity and watching in the relationship. We wait and wait for our partner to recognize us by doing for us the thing we feel they should know to do. We describe this, as it has often been called as, saving brown stamps. Meanwhile, resentment builds and we cease to be a proper participant in the relationship. Our belief that there is a force outside of our lives magically steering it toward love and happiness is deeply ingrained; usually it is only given up as a consequence of repeated disappointments. Even when it is, we can still become involved in trying to be the perfect person ourselves, believing that our slimness or muscularity will exercise a magical attraction on others around us. Thus women become anorexic and men spend hours at the gym. These behaviors often represent an attempt to keep our belief in magic alive. Bamboo Fly Rods - A Timeless Tradition

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

By Margarette Tustle You have probably seen or used bamboo fly rods if you know a fly-fisherman or if you are a fly- fisherman. In a throw-back to a simpler time, bamboo fly rods are still just as popular today as they were a hundred years ago. You can find brand new ones online or beautiful antique models on the popular antique show on public television. With all of the new and just as durable materials on the market like fiberglass, graphite, and others, why would someone want one of the simple bamboo fly rods? The answer probably lies somewhere between tradition and quality. Understanding Fly Fishing Before you understand fly rods, you will need to have an understanding of fly-fishing. Fly-fishing is done by waving the rod back and forth smoothly through the air and then letting the line out at just the right moment for gravity and force to cast it out into the water at the perfect spot. Bamboo fly rods must be flexible, lightweight, and have a sensitive touch-this is what they make them perfect. Bamboo rods have been around for almost as long as fishing has been around. If you do an online search you can find not only information about bamboo fly rods, but how to care for them, how to make them, where to buy them, and you can even find antique rods for sale-some that were made before the first World War. The antique rods are not usually for use, but they would be a treasured part of any serious fly-fishermans collection. How To Find Bamboo Rods If you want to make your own bamboo fly rods there are several places that you can purchase the different pieces that you will need including the line guides, the pole pieces, the ferrules (the metal caps on the ends of the each pole piece that act as connectors), the cork grips and the reel as well. You should take special care when choosing a finish. The finish on bamboo fly rods should be durable and flexible and should withstand water damage. Once you have the parts, you can find instructions for putting it together in one of the many books or websites available online. But, if the do-it-yourself route is not your style, you can purchase bamboo fly rods online. There are models that range from a simple pole with a hook on the end for as little as five dollars-and there are deluxe models with all of the bells and whistles that can run several hundred dollars. Some people might want to take an old rod and refinish it. While this can be a fun and rewarding activity, it may cost more to restore some rods than they are worth especially if they are cracked. Caring For Your Fly Rod Caring for bamboo fly rods takes time and precision. If they are not cared for properly they will quickly decay and rot. Clean and dry the wood after each use and use furniture polish occasionally. The ferrules should also be kept free of debris and can be cleaned with denatured alcohol, Vaseline, or lighter fluid. The cork grips can be cleaned with toothpaste and a soft brush or dish soap or a cleaner that has bleach in it. Be careful not to remove any small pieces of cork. As the cork begins to get old it should be replaced. Margarette Tustle writes ideas for home and family. Find bamboo resources at msbamboo.com. A Guide To Bad Credit Loans

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Vipul_J]Vipul J Gone are the days when bad credit was considered as a taboo. In todays expensive world it has almost become a way of our life. This fact is further confirmed by the report of a recent survey which states that almost one fifth of the adult population fall under the trap of bad credit loans. However, this figure is not a matter to be concerned about as there are specific loan programmes for such type of population which are popularly known as bad credit loans. In recent years Bad credit loan business has flourished like never before. The reason for this is the increase of the number of borrowers with a bad credit history. Bad credit loans enables you to borrow an amount as low as 5000 and as high as 75,000. The repayment term offered in a bad credit loan varies from 5-25 years. Bad credit loans can be either secured as well as unsecured. A secured bad credit loan requires collateral, whereas an unsecured bad credit loan does not require any security against the loan taken. If you are looking for a larger amount and a lower interest rate, then a secured bad credit loan will be a better choice as compared to unsecured ones. There are a number of sources of bad credit loans. One type of bad credit loans is a cheque advance. In this case, the borrower issues a cheque against which the lender offers a bad credit loan. The amount that the borrower enters in the cheque is equal to the loan amount plus lenders fees. This type of bad credit loan is repaid within a few days. Fantasy

Monday, February 25th, 2008

By Michael A. Verdicchio The dictionary defines fantasy as, “an imagined event or sequence of mental images, such as a daydream, usually fulfilling a wish or psychological need; an unrealistic or improbable supposition.” That is fantasy. However, the vision that you have for your life, your goals, your dreams and your desires, are not fantasy. They are not just daydreams fulfilling a psychological need. They are not just some nice mind games to keep you happy and positive. And they are certainly not unrealistic or improbable suppositions. Quite the contrary, your goals, your dreams, and your desires really do matter. They are important. Why? They are important because they are YOUR goals. They are YOUR dreams. They are YOUR desires. Have you ever wondered who decides and determines if your goals, dreams and desires are too big? Does someone exist who has the authority to overrule your goals, desires and dreams? Do we determine and decide for others just how big they can dream, or what goals are simply not realistic for them? It is not your place or mine to determine if someone’s goals and dreams and desires are too big for them or not. You and I are not the ones to figure that out for someone else. Likewise, it is no one else’s business to decide if your goals and dreams and desires are too big or not for you. They are yours! So, what about ability and resources? Is that the criteria that should determine the size of our goals? If that were true, a blind man would have never made it to the top of Mt. Everest. And yet, Erik Weihenmayer did just that in 2001. If ability and resources determine whether a goal is too big or not, then three small ships would have never crossed the Atlantic Ocean to the New World. But in 1492, they did. Sometimes looking at our own present ability and our own present resources are enough to deter us from what we really desire deep inside. That is, unless of course we have the right connections! Have you ever heard the statement, “It’s who you know that counts?” I’m sure you have. And you’ve also probably heard, “You’ve got to have connections to make it in this world.” Now I’m not denying that connections can be helpful; many times, they are very helpful. The point I am making is that too often people look at their lack of ability and resources. Then, they look at their lack of “connections” and they give up on their goals. But, they have overlooked the biggest and best connection of all! As Christians we have a loving Father, unwavering in His love for us, and unlimited in His ability and His resources. With that kind of a connection, why would you ever give up or abandon your goals, dreams and desires? In fact, there is a verse in the Bible that talks about God being able to do that which is exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think! How big can you think? How big can you dream? How big are your goals and desires? It really doesn’t matter what it seems like to other people. It’s not their dream it is yours! You can have it. And, you can have every desire of your heart! Fantasy is a dream with no action. Without action, dreams become unrealistic or improbable suppositions. Without action, our desires are nothing more than a sequence of mental images. Without action, our desires just become daydreams. The vision you carry of your life, your goals, your dreams, and your desires are your prerogative, and they are very important! They are important because they are yours! Don’t let anyone talk you out of them. Especially don’t talk yourself out of them! Because God loves you, your goals and dreams and desires are important to Him too. Don’t allow them to evaporate into a fantasy. Instead, ask for His help, and begin taking action. Act now! Do something, no matter how small it seems to you! Acquire information, develop a new skill, or talk to someone. The point is, start moving. Remain confident that your desires will come to pass, that your dreams will be fulfilled, and that your goals will be met, and they will! Michael A. Abdominoplasty Tummy Tuck Information

Monday, February 18th, 2008

By Rose Lindy If you are in good health but want to do something about a protruding abdomen or loose, flabby skin due to weight loss, you may want to consider having a procedure called abdominoplasty. The common name for this is a tummy tuck. Men and women alike have this procedure done to minimize a protruding abdomen caused by fat. This procedure also tightens the vertical muscles of the abdomen. If you are considering a tummy tuck, you should know that there is a possibility of scarring because this is surgery, after all. The people who tend to have the abdominoplasty surgery are women who are not going to have any more children, men and women who have lost a lot of weight and have loose, flabby skin hanging off their abdomen and anyone who has a protruding abdomen. The abdominoplasty procedure starts with you getting a local or a general anesthesia. The type of anesthesia will depend on what your surgeon decides to do. You should know after your first meeting with your surgeon, what type of anesthesia they will use. In the surgery an incision is made between the hipbones and around the naval. Skin is separated from the abdominal wall and lifted over the vertical abdominal muscles then the muscles are sewn together to tighten them. The skin is then stretched down and flattened and any remaining skin over the incision is cut away with the skin flap sewn into its new place. Your surgeon will give you a list of things you should and should not do after your surgery. This list will probably include, but is not limited to wearing supportive garments, removal of sutures and exercises that will tone the muscles. You are also encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to keep to a diet that will not put weight back. All these steps are important to make the most of the procedure and to make it last. The Perfect Grad School Application: Short and Sweet… But Complete

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

By Amber C. Smith After you’ve finished one graduate school application, you probably won’t be excited about completing more. In fact, you might have even left out a few keys for creating a great graduate school application the first time. Try the following to improve you grad school application and your chances for success. Short and Sweet You might be tempted to ramble on forever about your accomplishments or activities. Please don’t do it. The admissions officers have to read a lot of applications, and they don’t want to read pages and pages of information about you. It doesn’t make you look better; it makes you annoying. But Complete Although your application should be short and sweet, it should also be complete. You want to give all the information required in the most precise way possible. Make sure you go over the application a couple of times to make sure that you didn’t leave anything out. Often people forget to mark a box or fill in a blank, and that can slow down the application process by days or weeks. Essays When it comes to completing your graduate school application, the hardest part is writing the essays, particularly if you have been out of school for a while and are out of practice. You should try to fill out the rest of the application early so that you will have more than enough time to write a great essay. In your essay, be sure that you use specific examples. If possible, tell a story instead of just straight facts. It will be a lot more interesting. Try to use active verbs rather than passive ones to make your story more interesting and readable. Just like with the applications, the admissions officers and program directors have to read a lot of essays, so you want your to be the interesting one that they still remember at the end of the process. Proofread Please make sure you proofread before you turn in your application and essays. If your documents include a lot of misspelled or missing words, the program will likely consider you to be irresponsible and unorganized. Have an old teacher or a friend look over the documents to make sure that everything is correct before you submit it. Review more industry related articles by Amber Smith at CareersandEducation.com. Migration Time and Hummers Are On The Move

Friday, February 15th, 2008

By Ronald F. Patterson HUMMERS have been on the migration trail. All but Anna’s Hummingbirds migrate. Anna’s more or less wonder around the Pacific coastal areas as the temperatures there never get that cold. (Anna’s Hummingbird) Oh sure, you may still have hummers. Probably not the same ones you had a week or two ago. I can speak of the Ruby-throated, because that is what I have. Ruby-throated is the most populated hummer and more then likely out numbers all others combined. Males start migration as early as late July or early August. You know, They did their part (breed) so why stick around. The adult female and juveniles are juicing up and on the move. If you notice, the birds look like they could give birth at any time. Hummers need to fatten up before they take off. A hummer will double in weight before heading out. There is nothing we do that keeps them hanging around longer. The length of day dictates departure– not temperatures or food sources. In fact, this is the most bountiful time for food. Hummers need nectar for energy and insects for protein. They need the nectar to catch bugs! Right now there is plenty of nectar and a plethora to chose from on the meat market. So, you now know that keeping your feeders out does not encourage a bird to stay. In fact, you should keep your hummer feeders out a good week or two after your last sighting, just in case there is a straggler or two. Juveniles haven’t made the flight south before, they just know they have to do this to survive. Often both sexes of the juveniles look much like the female. However, my observations show the youngsters are a bit smaller. This season, I had a young male that was darker and had a clear ruby blotch for a gorget. Sometimes a young male will appear to have a 5 o’clock shadow. Isn’t Nature wonderful? If you take your feeders down to early, you miss out on these winged marvels and they won’t stop on the trip next spring. Banded records show hummers take the exact same route year after year. Stop at the exact same feeders and often on the same day.Starvation is the main cause of death during migration, so keep on keeping on. You may have several hummers at a given time, bless you if you do. But, hummers are not a social bird like most birds. They do not form flocks. It’s each bird for him/her self. They take off on their own and arrive on their own. (There is no safety in numbers or the cover of darkness). This time of year hummers will tolerate each other at the feeders. They are on the move and aren’t protecting a territory. A hummer may travel 20 to 30 miles a day. That means the hummingbird I see today, will bein Indiana or Illinois next week. The hummer I see later on, will have come from maybe Michigan’s upper peninsula or parts of Ontario, Canada. Most of the hummers that migrate from Canada and the United states will end up in Mexico and parts of Latin America. More and more Rubies are finding parts of Texas, the Gulf coast and parts of the Southern Atlantic coast as a winter home. Rufus Hummingbirds are showing up more often in these places for winter as well. Why do these birds stay? Well, it could be young that haven’t figured it all out. Some experts think it could be too much competition with all the others that migrate and native hummers. I think the loss of habitat plays a big role here. Habitat is disappearing at an alarming rate in these developing countries. Or, maybe they like the legendary Southern hospitality! Let’s hope for a successful migration and a bountiful return next spring. Many believe the hurricanes of last summer hurt the Ruby-throated population for this spring. Many food sources were destroyed and people that would hang out feeders had more important things to do. There is so much to learn about these flying jewels. Yes, there are more questions then answers. You too can learn just by observing Our native and migratory birds are a blessing to us and it is important to learn what we can about them.
